Old and New Hats

I've been working in tech since 1984. I was working on a Biology degree when I discovered the amazing personal computer. I managed to complete the degree but immediately began working with computers after college. The early days were dBase, R:Base, Turbo Pascal, and Turbo C.

Then PC networking took off and I jumped aboard and worked my way up to managing a nationwide wide area network for a manufacturing entity. I shifted back to software development while working in the health care arena. For the last ten years I have been a consultant/contractor working in various technologies.

Today I work primarily with web development using open-source technologies. PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache, and Linux are my current buzzwords but I've also worked in Perl, Java, ASP, Oracle, SQL Server, IIS, Solaris, HPUX, AIX, and Windows (286 to XP). Not much OS/X experience but I appreciate it's FreeBSD underpinnings.
